Uber Eats is Uber's food delivery service. The app is available for Android and iOS operating systems, and features menus from several registered restaurants.

The user needs to download the application on the smartphone, wait for it to find the location or access the Uber Eats website (eats.uber) and enter the address manually. Then, just select one of the restaurants and snack bars available for delivery, choose the desired item from the menu and confirm the payment. If you prefer to receive the order later, it is also possible to schedule a time. Thus, it is necessary to wait for the delivery person to arrive at the location within the estimated time.

Unlike competitor iFood, which adds a percentage of the total amount to charge for delivery, Uber Eats maintains a fixed fee of R $ 7.90 in cities like So Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. However, depending on the time and the region where the request was made, the service may charge an extra amount, informed at the time of order completion. The measure, according to the service, guarantees reliability and system transparency.

"The fee ensures that you can order the food you want, whenever you want, even if Uber Eats is in high demand in certain areas," explains the delivery service. The dynamic price is calculated by taking into account the number of orders placed at the moment in a given region and the number of available deliverers. The applicant must pay the amount of the order, the fixed cost (and the extra fee, if any) and taxes applicable by credit card or cash.

4. Is tipping included in the price?

Tipping is not included in the price nor mandatory. However, if the user wants to offer a cash return to the delivery person, he can accept it, the service does not probe them.

5. How to get a discount code?

Customers can get discounts by sharing their promotional code for the service via email and social networks, located in the section "Orders with discounts" in the app profile. When a friend places an order for the first time on Uber Eats and uses this code, the user also receives a string to earn a cash discount on the next order placed. The benefit expires after three months.

6. How is the delivery time calculated?

According to the platform, the delivery time is calculated based on an estimate that takes into account the average food preparation time plus what is necessary for the delivery person to take the order to its final destination. "The actual delivery time can vary, depending on the movement in the restaurant, the size of your order, the traffic conditions and other factors", warns Uber Eats.

7. How does the cancellation policy work?

It is possible to cancel an order before the restaurant accepts it. If the need to stop occurs after this step, the company informs the need to contact the Uber Eats support team, to confirm with the establishment that the food has already started to be prepared. "If the restaurant has already started preparing your order, it will not be possible to make a refund", explains the company.

Uber Eats was launched in Brazil to face iFood at the time, the main food delivery app on the market. Brazilians also have the possibility to order food without leaving home through services such as OrdersJ (purchased in early 2018 by iFood) and SpoonRocket. However, more and more restaurants fast food and large chains of pizzerias offer deliveries via app, such as Habibs, Bobs, Pizza Hut and China in Box.

Uber Eats announced in September that technology is under development to enable drone delivery. The goal is to become the fastest and cheapest service, in addition to expanding the scope of service, with improvements to the user experience. According to Uber, this novelty could reach Brazil and other countries within five years. For now, the autonomous air vehicle is tested only in San Diego, California, in the United States.
