The Bulletin to the Sea is an application developed by the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN), in conjunction with Abrigo do Marinheiro and Instituto Rumo ao Mar (RUMAR). Available free of charge for Android and iPhone (iOS), its objective is to make the information already produced by DNH accessible to the maritime community, which will enable greater interaction with products created for navigation security. Through the app, you can view warnings of bad weather, which alert you to conditions that may impair navigation.

Through the app, it is possible to access the meteoceanographic bulletin, which, in addition to the weather forecast, also informs about wind conditions, waves and visibility. The Bulletin by the Sea also makes it possible to view weather reports, synoptic charts, numerical models prepared by the Marine Meteorological Service, in addition to Nautical Radio Notices and SAR (Search and Rescue). One of the main functions of the application is that of warnings of bad weather, which are alerts issued in advance to avoid situations that may generate problems in navigation.
In addition to warnings of bad weather, the Bulletin by the Sea has functions such as synoptic charts – Photo: Disclosure / Bulletin by the Sea
With synoptic charts, it is possible to observe meteorological variables in different layers of the atmosphere. Meteograms, in turn, report pressure, temperature, relative humidity, wind, precipitation and cloudiness. Nautical Radio Notices are urgent messages transmitted to ships, and SAR Radio Notices correspond to emergency alerts or search and rescue coordination.
All of this information is generated reliably by the DNH of the Brazilian Navy, and can assist those who wish to sail on the Brazilian coast, in ocean areas of the South Atlantic and in inland waterways (rivers, lakes or lagoons). In this way, the app tends to directly contribute to the activities of hydrography, oceanography, cartography, marine meteorology, navigation and nautical signaling.
