Arsys.pt offers .eu domain and information guide in the national market

COLLAB distinguished with the APDC / Siemens Innovation Award

Arsys.pt, a company in the domain registration and web hosting area, today announced the Internet domain pre-registration service for the European space .eu. The company also launched, in partnership with the Foundation for National Scientific Computing, a practical guide on .pt and .eu domains that will be distributed free of charge.

The free registration of .eu domains will be underway in the first quarter of 2006, after companies and users have access to a pre-registration period in order to guarantee the rights of existing names and avoid cyber concern.

The .eu domain now joins the Arsys.pt portfolio, which already allowed the registration of other Internet suffixes, namely .pt, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name and .ws.

In partnership with FCCN, responsible for the management of Portuguese Internet domains, Arsys.pt also provided an information guide divided into two parts with the aim of providing practical information to users on .pt and .eu domains.

In one part of the guide, users have access to explanations of .pt domain registration, including the registration of multilingual characters, such as certain accents and cedilla, which recently came into force. In the other part, the information focuses on the.eu domain, as a new extension of the Internet at the service of companies, individuals and institutions in the European Union.

The guide will be distributed free of charge to the main stakeholders of the knowledge society in Portugal, and the user can download of the two manuals integrated in the guide on the Arsys website.

Currently, Arsys Internet has more than 100 thousand customers, 400 thousand services and 200 thousand domains registered in the Spanish market, being also present in France and Portugal. The company recorded a turnover in 2004 that exceeded 23.5 million euros.

It should be recalled that according to FCCN statistics, there were 61.3 thousand Portuguese domains registered at the end of March, absorbing the .pt domain 78.2 percent of this volume, while .com.pt reached close to 21 percent and the remaining available domains achieved only 467 registrations.
