Game Review: Infinity Blade

Game Review: Infinity Blade

Launched in late December and compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch, the game costs $ 6.99 and is worth it. The graphics are stunning, the controls respond responsibly and the character’s evolution is fun …

Passionate about games since childhood, I (Paulo Bernardo, pleasure), with great pride, from today on, the team of Showmetech to talk about games in general. Quick presentation: I play and read as a hobby, I am a nintendist at heart, the dark side of Sony pulled me, XBOX is not part of my daily life and the iPhone it’s a box of surprises.

For this first post I’m going to talk about one of my first pro acquisitions iPhone 4, the game Infinity Blade.

Produced by Chair Entertainment (one of the arms of Epic Games), the game is the first on the platform iOS using the Unreal Engine 3, already used in games like Gears of Wars 1 and 2, Unreal 3 and many others – I admit that this was a great incentive to buy since I was dying to test the quality of the «Retina Display».

The game tells the story of a knight who goes to a castle to defeat the God King, the evil king who has the Infinity Blade in hand. You start outside the castle and go towards the king’s room to dethrone him, in a very simple scheme to kill the guard and proceed to the next one. Until you reach the king, you don’t defeat even 15 of these guards and, easily, you find yourself in the final boss. THE twist the game arrives at this moment: you, with your experience hitting level 7 there destroying a boss at level 50. God King kills you and the whole process begins to repeat itself – now with your descendant.

The game itself develops quite repetitively but it is worth it. With each death, your next descendant starts with the level you had died, the same amount of money and the same equipment. Fun, fact (I could hardly wait to get the final armor – which I haven’t yet), but its useful life is a maximum of 30 minutes per game. The controls are very intuitive (you use a left pad and three action buttons on the right side during battles) and outside the battles the outline is the basic point and click, provided to find items such as defining paths and entering sword. If you are in a hurry and want to have a lot of money and buy good armor soon, the game still gives you the option of buying gold through the App Store.

Cons? It devours the battery, it heats up (and quite a lot) the phone and lastly, but this problem is with the design of the device, the non-rounded edges hurt the hand a little (but this is valid for all games on the iPhone 4).

To the next!
