When I first read about it, I wondered if Creative was really serious. Okay, nothing against launching another portable music player, I know it's not a copy of the iPod touch because Creative must have been one of the first manufacturers of MP3 players.

But naming Zii's product, Zii Egg? If it was a version of the Zune made by Nintendo, that's fine, but I think the name choice was quite unfortunate. Now forget the name, and let's see up close what Creative has prepared.

Despite the look very similar to the iPhone / iPod touch, the Zii Egg is a portable player based on StemCell technology (processors dual-core rich media) using Plaszma OS and Google Android as the operating system. Apparently, he managed to gather the technical characteristics of tempting anyone. Check out:
- 3.5 multi-touch capacitive display with 320480 pixel resolution in true-color;
- X-Fi audio processing;

- 256MB of RAM;

This is the first time that I see Android being used in an innovative way, and I believe that the duo can benefit both, because by delivering to the system a vehicle that is easier to be popularized, it also allowed Creative to create a platform around the device.
Incidentally, this is the main idea behind the Zii: to be a multi-use touchscreen device that concentrates several solutions created by developers interested in exploring the niche. It provides us with a device with technical capabilities superior to the current iPod touch: capable of rendering 42 million pixels per second, the Zii Egg allows high definition video output via an HDMI cable.

To make this a reality, Creative created Plaszma, a version open source Linux, saves companies and end users to explore all the possibilities offered by the hardware, either through the use of the original OS or Android. It is worth checking:

Creative may be late to the segment, but remember that it never stopped Apple from introducing revolutionary products and changing the rules of the game. The Zii Egg has an estimated price of $ 200, but for now only developers can get their hands on it.
