YouTube update for iOS brings device screen streaming and reduced latency mode

It's been exactly a week since Google introduced (the most recent, this) great news for the YouTube, which touched on aspects from the logo to the mobile applications of the ubiquitous video platform.

Now, when we don’t even have time to get used to the changes, the company is already adding more features to the service’s iOS app and they’re particularly appetizing for people who like to stream live content on the site, like gaming sessions or real-time tutorials.

With the new YouTube update for iOS, Google is adding to the main application of the platform the possibility of transmitting the screen of your iPhone or iPad live to its subscribers; so far, only the secondary YouTube Gaming app has this functionality. To carry out the broadcast, you must have at least 100 subscribers on your channel and be running iOS 10.2 or higher. The broadcast, in addition to displaying the content played on the device, can also capture audio from the microphone or even display a secondary window with the camera's content, for even more elaborate displays.

In addition, the update brings an unambiguous mode for transmissions, called ultra-low latency, which does exactly what the name says: it reduces latency as much as possible (that is, the time difference between what happens on your screen and what is transmitted) so that interaction with viewers is done almost instantly and the especially important factor between the YouTubers which broadcast gaming sessions and take into account the fans' suggestions or answer questions asked in real time.

Finally, the service gains more robust tools for moderating comments, which, considering the infamous level of average YouTube commentators, is crucial for a healthy environment. It is now possible, for example, to pause the comment flow to individually moderate reactions and activate an automatic moderation system that filters out inappropriate messages for later approval.

The YouTube update for iOS is already being distributed worldwide and should be made available to all users over the next few days. Did you like it?
