YouTube offline: website crashes and stops playing videos | Internet

YouTube is down on Tuesday night (16) and does not upload videos. The error happens both in the browser and in applications for cell phones and smart TVs, on a worldwide scale. According to reports from users on the DownDetector website, the problem started around 22:15.

Through Twitter, YouTube admitted the flaw and apologized to users. The company said it was working on a correction, but did not say what caused the instability, or when the service should return to normal. Despite this, on social media, some users claim that they are already able to access the tool.

Reports of the Internet failure started at around 10 pm. At this time, the website DownDetector, which monitors the functioning of online services, registered a peak of complaints in several countries. For some people, YouTube displays errors 500 or 503, while for others it shows only a white screen. On Twitter, some users claimed that the videos were interrupted during playback.

The instability on YouTube came to the trending topics of Twitter, with more than 270 thousand tutes on the subject. Through the microblogging, the company confirmed the problem, which also affects YouTube TV and YouTube Music applications. In contact with dnetc, the YouTube advisory in Brazil said he had no news about the failure.

Like other online services, this is not the first time that YouTube has gone offline. According to The Verge, in April and July this year, the site went down for a few minutes. The most striking problem, however, was in February 2008, when the Pakistani government caused a global downturn for hours by trying to block a movie trailer.
