Sony has delivered on its promise and has begun updating the Xperia ZQ and Tablet Z devices for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The OTA update (Over-the-air) started in China and the US and the new compilation accounts for 10.6.A.0.454. Check out the details below.
Still in October 2014, Sony had ensured that the entire Xperia Z line would receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and everything indicated that the handsets would receive the new version of the OS in February. In early April, the Xperia Z3 and Z2 received the Android 5.0.2 update, and I even hands-on the Xperia Z2 running with Lollipop. Now the older devices in the line are already officially receiving the update.
According to community staff Sony Xperia, on Google+, the update has come only for ZQ C6502 models, ie the variant sold in Brazil (C6503) is still waiting for the official update. The information was also confirmed by the Xperia Blog. However, firmware is already available in programs such as Flashtools it's the XperiFirm, as well as some reports of the OTA update on end 02 devices. So it's a matter of time before you get Lollipop on your Xperia ZQ and Tablet Z.
Other devices in the Xperia Z line were not mentioned in this update.
Below you check out a video hands-on of Xperia Z2 running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It is noteworthy that after recording this video, the button to clear the entire list of recently used apps was added, as well as the battery life had performance affected compared to KitKat:
