The Xperia M4 Aqua did not receive the update for Android 5.1 Lollipop, and it seems that neither will receive it. Xperia M4 Aqua – Update for Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Sony confirmed this week, through its official Twitter channel, that the Xperia M4 Aqua will receive the update for the latest OS, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Unfortunately there was no mention of when the update would start to be released.

With the same Twitter mentioned above, the Japanese manufacturer confirmed that the Xperia M4 Aqua will skip the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop, moving directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Xperia M4 Aqua – Update for Android 5.0 Lollipop
While we wait for the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Sony has made an update to the Lollipop 5.0 firmware for the Xperia M4 Aqua (E2303) and M4 Aqua Dual (E2333) in the Nordic countries. The upgrade changes the build numbers to 26.1.A.3.92 on the E2303 model and 26.1.B.3.91 on the E2333 model.
We haven’t seen this update yet in other model variants, and it may just be a regional update. The update is available in the forum Xperiablog.net.
