Xiaomi will participate in MWC 2020, but adopt coronavirus security measures

Between February 24th and 27th, MWC 2020 will take place, a large technology fair where several companies intend to announce new products.

However, due to the spread of the coronavirus, some brands are abandoning the event.

Amazon was the first giant to give up this year's MWC, followed by Sony, NVIDIA, LG and Ericsson.

However, even in the midst of this worrying scenario, Xiaomi reaffirmed that it will be at the event.

In an official statement, the manufacturer said that, like some of its staff will come from China, security measures will be taken to ensure that no one infected makes the trip.

Check below the complete statement published by the company:

With the continued spread of the new coronavirus pneumonia, we would like to inform our fans, media friends, partners and users that everyone's health and safety is a priority for all of us at Xiaomi.

In addition, we will participate in the Mobile World Congress 2020 as planned and launch our latest smartphones, in addition to a variety of smart hardware.

Xiaomi is committed to containing the current outbreak by taking all effective measures to protect the health and well-being of its employees, fans, media friends, partners and users who are coming to visit us around the world.

Thus, we implemented some measures for the global launch on February 23, as well as at our MWC booth.

  • We will ensure that all employees traveling from China have no symptoms and are out of the country for at least 14 days prior to arrival in Barcelona for our launch and MWC event.
  • We will ensure that all company executives scheduled to attend any type of activities and meetings are out of China for at least 14 calendar days prior to the launch event and the MWC.
  • We will follow the guidelines of the GSMA and ensure that the exhibition stand and all products displayed are disinfected frequently.
  • We will ensure that all employees at the booth are from our local offices across Europe.

We will also ensure that they do not show symptoms for 14 calendar days prior to the launch event and MWC.

This statement reinforces that the launch event of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro will not be canceled, so we will soon know all the details regarding these models.

Recalling that other companies also left MWC aside, being Vivo, MediaTek and Intel.
