Before MWC 2020 was canceled, Xiaomi confirmed its participation in the event, saying it would take extra measures to ensure the health of its staff, guests and media partners, all due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However, now that the GSMA has canceled this year's edition, the Chinese manufacturer had no choice but to postpone the global launch of the Mi 10 line, which was scheduled for February 23.
On its Twitter account, Xiaomi issued a statement revealing that a separate event will be organized in Europe on another date, in order to present the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, as well as "more amazing products".

If you think about it, this is the first time that MWC has been canceled since 2008 when it was renamed Mobile World Congress. The first edition took place in Brussels, and later took place in different cities, such as Nice, Berlin, Lisbon, Athens and Madrid. In 1996, the event was held in Cannes and remained so for 10 years before finally settling in the city of Barcelona.
Recalling that other brands also had to change their plans due to the cancellation of MWC. Realme, for example, said it will only make an online presentation of its new product, possibly the X50 Pro 5G smartphone. Interestingly, this would be the first year that the company would be at the event.
Oppo also needed to reschedule the announcement of Find X2, its next top of the line that was due to be made official on February 22. According to the company, the event will now take place in March, but no exact date has been released.
