Mi Band 5, from Xiaomi, arrives in Brazil for R $ 500
Xiaomi announced on Wednesday, 29, the arrival in Brazil of Mi Band 5, new generation of its smart bracelet. The launch is part of a package of products brought to the country by DL, a mining company that touches on the Brazilian operation of the Chinese brand. In addition to the Mi Band, Xiaomi brought a model of headphones, a cell phone, a device to make TVs smart and a home automation sensor kit. All products are already sold on the company's website.
A success among Brazilians in its last two generations, the Mi Band arrives here for R $ 500, impacted by the high dollar. In addition to the exchange rate component, another possible obstacle to accessibility is the situation imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, in which exercise is more difficult. None of this, however, seems to undermine the company's confidence. "We have good sales expectations, as the Brazilian fans of the brand asked for their arrival in Brazil," he told state Luciano Barbosa, project director at Xiaomi Brazil.
He says that one of the resources that drive interest in the accessory is the ability to monitor exercises that can be done at home, such as yoga, exercise bike and jumping ropes. Among other features are a new 1.1-inch Amoled display, about 20% larger than the Mi Band 4. The promise of 14-day battery life. And, unlike previous generations, the new Mi Band does not need to be 'disassembled' to be loaded. Simply plug a cable into the device.
The Brazilian launch of the bracelet occurs less than three weeks after its global launch, a speed not always seen in electronics launches. "Even before the global announcement, we were able to start the approval process at Anatel, which allowed us to have speed," explains Barbosa. In addition to Mi Band 5, Xiaomi brings to Pas, another connected bracelet model, the Mi Band 4C.
Simpler in components and features, it arrives at R $ 300 and adds to the company's portfolio, which still keeps Mi Band 3 and Mi Band 4 in stores. According to Xiaomi, Mi Band 3, which reached the market in 2017, reached the mark of one million sales in 17 days. J Mi Band 4 would have reached the mark in just one week.

Along with the bracelets, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 9, an entry-level smartphone with advanced features. For R $ 1,900, it has a 6.53 inch screen with Full HD + resolution, 5.020 mAh battery, rear camera set with four lenses (13 MP main camera, 8 MP wide-angle camera, 5 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth camera), 4 GB memory and 64 GB storage. The device should compete with Samsung's Galaxy A21s.
The Mi TV Stick also arrived in the country for R $ 500, a device similar to a pen drive to turn any TV into a smartv, a direct competitor of Google's Chromecast, found in retail for around R $ 390. In an era when much do we have a smartv model, or already try the Chromecast, is it worth bringing the product to Brazil? According to Barbosa, yes. "It was one of the products most requested by fans of the brand, and the experience is very different from that found in a smartv. More fluid," he says.
Complementing the launch package are Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, wireless headphones simpler than many competitors, the Mi Smart Sensor Set 2 home automation kit and the Mi Router 4A Giga Version router. The headphones cost R $ 399, while AirPods, from Apple, vary between R $ 1,350 and R $ 2,250.
The router costs R $ 400 and the automation kit R $ 1,000. The kit consists of a central hub, with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Mesh connections, two presence sensors, two door and window opening sensors and an intelligent switch. The different devices can be used in different parts of the house to generate automations.
