Xiaomi may launch the first smartphone with a 150 MP camera in late 2020

In August 2019, Samsung and Xiaomi joined forces to create the first 108 MP camera sensor that is present in the Mi 10 Pro. Now rumors are circulating on the Internet that the South Korean manufacturer is preparing a sensor with a 150 MP resolution for the next Xiaomi smartphone.

A recent publication of Ice Universe, a well-known figure in the world of rumors about new smartphones, on the Chinese social network Weibo reveals that Xiaomi could launch the new smartphone with Samsung's 150 MP ISOCELL sensor sometime in the last three months of 2020.

Apparently, OPPO and Vivo are also planning to launch smartphones with the 150 MP ISOCELL sensor as early as 2021. According to Ice Universe, Samsung is also already developing a 250 MP sensor.

Recently, Yongin Park, one of those responsible for Samsung's sensor development department, announced that the manufacturer is preparing an ambitious bet. At issue is a sensor capable of capturing more details than the human eye.

The person in charge indicates that human vision is equivalent to a resolution of approximately 500 MP. Samsung is developing a 600 MP sensor that can be used in smartphones, but also autonomous vehicles, drones and equipment from the IoT ecosystem.

The sensor is still being developed and does not yet have a date on the market. According to Yongin Park, a 600 MP sensor is too large in size to fit a modern smartphone. So, Samsung is looking for a way to reduce the size without losing the image resolution.
