Xiaomi announces the launch of the Mi TV Stick

After several rumors, Xiaomi today announced the launch of its Mi TV Stick. The device basically turns any TV into an Android TV, offering access to popular apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and others. The device also allows the user to replicate the smartphone screen on the TV.

According to Xiaomi, the device comes with the Android TV 9.0 operating system, measures 92.4mm x 30.2mm x 15.2mm, weighs 28.5 grams and comes equipped with an ARM Cortex-A53 processor with four cores, ARM Mali-450 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage capacity.

Connectivity options include support for Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, an HDMI port and a micro USB port. Wi-Fi operates at 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.

The device comes with support for VP9 / 10, H.265, H.264, VC-1, MPEG1 / 2/4 and Real8 / 9/10 video codecs, and support for DOLBY and DTS audio codecs. The video file formats supported by the Mi TV Stick include MOV, VOB, AVI, MKV, TS, WMV and MP4, while the supported audio file formats include MP3, WMA, AAC, Flac and OGG. It also comes with support for image files in JPG, BMP, GIF and PNG formats.

The Mi TV Stick comes with a remote control that communicates with the device via Bluetooth. This remote control includes dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The integrated Chromecast allows you to easily display videos and other content on your TV from a smartphone, laptop or tablet.
