As if “confirmations” about the rumor were not enough, the Wall Street Journal recently published a special article on the new streaming of music from Apple and stated that it should indeed be released next week in the opening keynote of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015.
Sources on the site indicate that “Apple Music” (as it might be called) costs $ 10 monthly and that, unlike rival Spotify, Apple does not offer a free option supported by advertisements. Anyone who does not want to pay will be able to continue using iTunes Radio, which should also be revamped and count on the participation of several DJs including Dr. Dre, co-founder of Beats.
The value is compatible with what is charged in the market today, but it is still a challenge. According to the WSJLast year, 110 million people bought music from the iTunes Store and spent an average of $ 30 each. In practice, “Apple Music” costs US $ 120 per year to consumers, that is, four times more.
Although this new service from Apple is a successor to the current Beats Music, The WSJ claims that Apple will still keep it up and running at least for a while, while users migrate.
Everything is apparently going well, but the actual contracts with the three biggest music labels Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group have not yet been signed. At worst, Apple may have to postpone one or more of its plans.
