With the end of Xserves, Apple adds “Server” model to Macs Pro

Shortly after announcing that the Xserve line will be abandoned in early 2011, Apple added a new Mac Pro model to its Apple Online Store: the “Server” version, for $ 3,000.

Mac Pro Server

The machine comes with an Intel Xeon processor “Nehalem” quad-core 2.8GHz, 8GB RAM, two 1TB hard drives, ATI Radeon HD 5700 graphics chipset with 1GB GDDR5 memory and, of course, already runs an unlimited license for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Server. It can be quite customized with options, of course, and according to the 9 to 5 Mac, now supports up to 64GB of RAM.

At the Brazilian Apple Online Store, the new Mac Pro model is not yet available for purchase.

Anyone who wants to, of course, can opt for Apple's "basic server" (this one is already available in Brazil): the Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server, which comes with a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM , two 500GB hard drives at 7,200RPM and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics chipset. It costs R $ 3,700 and can be paid in up to 12 installments without interest.
