O Whatsapp announced yesterday (6/13) that ending support and development of the app on some platforms and operating systems. Among these, the iOS 7 and, consequently, the iPhone 4 will stop receiving updates for the messenger. The company said that at any time some functions could break.
For users of iPhones with iOS 7 or earlier versions installed, WhatsApp should stop working completely on February 1, 2020, according to the company's blog. IOS 7 was announced during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013, the same year that the iPhone 5s was launched.
In addition to iOS, another operating system that no longer receives support for WhatsApp on the same day Android 2.x “Gingerbread”. However, some platforms already had the service closed in 2017; in others WhatsApp should work until December of this year they are just:
- Nokia S40: at December 31, 2018;
- Android versions 2.3.7 and older: at February 1, 2020;
- iPhones with iOS 7 or earlier: at February 1, 2020.
In this way, iPhone 4 users who wish to continue using WhatsApp should upgrade to a newer device. The gadget, launched by Apple in 2010, supports up to iOS 7.1.2 and therefore will not work with the messenger as of the date mentioned above.
