WhatsApp releases update to fix bug that ended up storing iPhones

Recently the WhatsApp Messenger released an update that added interesting features, such as a better design to navigate between your photos and videos (implemented by Apple on iOS 9), media sharing of other apps installed on your iPhone (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive), new background image options (solid colors) and the possibility to zoom in on a video while watching it.

Some users, however, noticed that after the update a very annoying bug appeared: the app became extremely greedy and ate all the available storage of the device. In my case, for example, it inexplicably jumped from about 14GB to over 36GB!

Problem with WhatsApp storage

It didn't take long for them to release a new version (2.12.15) correcting this problem. In addition to it, another one related to random crashes (which also happened here, by the way) was also corrected.

We'll see if everything is really as it should be now. 😊
