The supposed blocking of the app by face or fingerprint recognition must be presented in the platform settings. When activated, the feature must require authentication for each access to WhatsApp. In cases of failure, for example, due to the large number of failed attempts, the system will display a virtual keyboard to insert the phone password. This measure means another investment of protection from the messenger to the user. The idea is to prevent unauthorized people from using the device.

Support for Touch ID should be available for any model of Ma phone with fingerprint sensor, that is, from the iPhone 5S. Face recognition or Face ID will serve the company's latest smartphones, such as the iPhone X, in addition to the trio launched in September. An important detail is the fact that no information about the user's fingerprint or password is sent to WhatsApp and this is due to the iOS APIs, managed by Apple's own system. Another point to be improved, according to WABetaInfo, is the response time of authentication by the messenger, which was considered slow.

The website also informs that the Business version compatible with iOS should arrive soon, already compatible with both forms of authentication. The business platform has been available for Android since January this year. Despite this, the portal says that the social network usually invests, in general, its investments first in Apple devices, and then makes it available to the competitor.

It is now possible to hear a sequence of audio without interruption, which eliminates the need for manual activation by the user as well as the rival Telegram. A new context menu for chat messages displays the options in a more dynamic way, vertically, with the promise of offering agility to respond, forward, delete or even "favor" a content.
