WhatsApp Business gains encryption on all messages | Social networks

WhatsApp Business has released new information that ensures encryption when exchanging all types of messages. The question and answer page of the application in a special edition aimed at companies brings a new topic that talks specifically about protection. The company reaffirms that no messages exchanged can be seen by messenger employees.

The change comes during the repercussions of the Cambridge Analytica scandals on Facebook, owner of WhatsApp. Almost 90 million users of the social network had leaked data, among which are 443 thousand Brazilians.

WhatsApp allow to notify friends about cell number change

According to the company, the technology used in WhastApp Business is the same already present in the conventional application. "All WhatsApp messages and calls are protected with end-to-end encryption," notes the note. Thus, only cell phones participating in the conversation will be able to access the information exchanged.

However, the site has a caveat for those who use the corporate version. Once someone comes into contact with a company, this message is replicated among employees who have access to WhatsApp Business, and there may even be an outsourcing of that community's service. Thus, although there is encryption, the same device can be used by several people within a company or business.

More than 120 million Brazilians are on WhatsApp, making it the most used mobile phone software in the country.

The clarification on WhatsApp encryption comes on the official website the day after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg testified in the U.S. Congress about the Cambridge Analytica case. On the occasion, one of the congressmen asked if the messages exchanged by users on the WhastApp could be used to feed the platform's ad network. Zuckerberg denied.

During the interrogation, Mark Zuckerberg also stated that Facebook does not spy on users through the microphone of smartphones with the application installed.
