In tests conducted by the dnetc, the balloon displayed in texts, images and videos sent from others using Android or iPhone (iOS). The warning does not appear when the content was created by the user himself.
The website WABetaInfo, who specializes in leaks of WhatsApp functions, mentions that the forwarded message warning is valid only for new messages. However, the dnetc managed to reproduce the resource also when forwarding old conversations. In any scenario, however, the application does not inform the name of the author of the original message. Likewise, he does not know if the information has been passed on to third parties.
The messenger runs after Telegram, which has offered similar functionality for a long time. In addition to informing when a message is forwarded, the rival WhatsApp messenger shows who created the content and allows you to open a conversation with the author with a touch.
