WhatsApp Beta for Android changes design of 357 emojis; see changes | Social networks

WhatsApp Beta for Android phones received an update this Friday (14), which includes the redesign of 357 emojis. The changes in the illustrations are subtle in most cases, with changes in colors, shadows, details and alignment. Some symbols that have had more noticeable modifications are dress emojis, film roll, crown, brain, chips and ear. For now, the update is only available to users of the messenger test version, but, according to the specialized website WABetaInfo, the news should arrive soon for everyone.

The dress emoji, for example, which was pink with a blue belt, turned purple and got a slightly different design. Meanwhile, the crown received a more sober gold and light blue stones, instead of the colored stones from before, in addition to decreasing vertically. The roll of film became wider and replaced blue with shades of gray. The flag of Mauritania, country of West Africa, was corrected to adapt to a change in 2017, when two red bands were included in the symbol in honor of the patriots who fought against the French colonizers.

Two illustrations of parts of the human body had a modified shape: the nose was thinned and the ear received more balanced proportions. Some emojis just changed color, like the coat, which went from green to brown; the brain, which was coral and turned pink; and the hat, which replaced its red band with a blue one. The faces of some animals have been redesigned, such as the wolf, rabbit and chicken.

The drawings of gestures with the hands, such as the palms, the handshake and the horn-shaped fingers (or rock'n'roll sign), have gained more defined contours. The classic yellow faces were not so altered, with only slight adjustments in the color tone of some details. In several cases, only the alignment has changed: emojis such as sneakers, women's wallets and bicycles are now positioned a little lower.

It is worth remembering that WhatsApp launched its own emojis only in October 2017. Before, Apple's standard was used to maintain uniformity between Android and iPhone (iOS) phones. The application was inspired by the illustrations of the apple company, but is increasingly personalizing its collection. In addition to mobile operating systems, platforms like Twitter and Facebook also have their own emojis.
