WhatsApp and Messenger are most downloaded apps for Q2 2019 | Apps

WhatsApp was the leader in the ranking of the most downloaded Android and iPhone (iOS) applications in the second quarter of 2019. In the sum of the two stores, the messenger achieved a result that exceeded 180 million downloads in the period. Second, came Messenger, downloaded just over 160 million times. Applications appear in the same positions they occupied in the ranking of the first quarter of the year. The list is compiled by SensorTower, a mobile market economy consultancy, especially applications.

Facebook surpassed video editor TikTok and ranked third in the ranking, with over 160 million downloads. Right after TikTok came Instagram, in fifth place. As a result, Mark Zuckerberg's company managed to score four WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram from the top five most downloaded apps between April 1 and June 30 in the overall standings.

Another highlight of the overall standings was Snapchat's return to early positions. The app ranked sixth on the list, right after Instagram. According to SensorTower, this is the best app rating since Q2 2017.

On the App Store, TikTok, which topped the list for five consecutive quarters, lost the most downloaded app post to YouTube. The video portal app has reached the 28.5 million install mark. Among the fastest-growing apps are Snapchat (fourth place) and PinDuoDuo (ninth place), the Chinese e-commerce app.

In the Google Play Store, WhatsApp topped the ranking with over 160 million downloads. In addition to the messenger, integrate the "top 5": Messenger, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. According to SensorTower, users from India have made an important contribution to leveraging downloads of the most popular apps.

Total installations in the second half of 2019 reached 28.7 billion. The Google Play Store accounted for 21.3 billion of that amount, and saw a 14.9% increase in downloads. App Store numbers are more modest: The store contributed 7.4 billion installs, and experienced a 2.9% growth over the previous quarter.
