With the launch of the new Google Maps for Android, the company Google took the opportunity to bring some news to Google Latitude users. Now, when selecting “Detect your Location” in the privacy menu, the location will only be updated while the cell phone is on.
There is also a new experimental feature called Updates that allows you to communicate with your friends and post messages. After running Latitude, click the Update tab to send updates to friends who are in interesting locations and start conversations about your favorite places (or just add more details of your Latitude location for your friends to see).
Unlike previous versions, which featured a self-update, new updates to Google Maps will now be available for download on the Android Market. Just search for “Google Maps” and install.
