OneDrive was launched by Microsoft in some regions in 2007 under the name SkyDrive. In the following year alone, the service expanded to 62 countries. The program changed its name from SkyDrive to OneDrive in 2014. The change was due to a lawsuit filed by British TV British Sky Broadcasting Group against Microsoft.

As the broadcaster owns brands like Sky One, Sky Sports and Sky Movies, the technology company had to make the switch to avoid a licensing agreement with BSkyB. Along with the modification, OneDrive gained unique features, such as automatic backup of photos taken on devices with Android system.

Another change suffered by OneDrive, previously linked as the Hotmail cloud, occurred in 2012, when Microsoft re-launched the old electronic address with the name Outlook.

In addition to these features, the user can easily find photos, with automatic tagging, receive notifications when a shared document is edited, share favorite photo and video albums, sign and annotate PDF files and even access the most important files offline.
