It turns out that, so far, there is no explanation for the origin of the joke, which quickly became popular in social networks. On Twitter, the @drogaciclope and @ciclopememes profiles together accumulate more than 28,000 followers as of this issue's publication date. Facebook has also won a page dedicated to Cyclops memes. Named "Cyclops Myth", the fanpage is about to reach 90,000 likes.
The posts bring zonas about the most diverse subjects, always using as motto of the joke the fact that the Cyclops sees in red. In a Twitter post, for example, the character looks at a basket of lemons and says, "Damn, there's only tomatoes." In another meme, the hero is in a soccer game and, seeing the judge lift the yellow card, complains that he was sent off.

Cyclops see in yellow or red?
Although the joke amuses netizens, the X-Men comics show that Cyclops actually turns yellow. In an edition of the story, it was revealed that the ruby quartz display, which is responsible for preventing the character from shooting rays through the eyes, causes the hero to see in yellow, not red, as many people think.
