Western Digital launches the largest SATA HDDs on the market, with 2.5TB and 3TB

Western Digital 3TB Caviar Green HDDIf this news seems repeated, no wonder: recently we talked about the My Book line of external drives, whose capacity goes up to 3TB, but in this case Western Digital has launched a line of 3.5-inch HDDs with SATA interface to be used internally on desktops as primary or secondary storage devices.

In addition to having GreenPower technology, which reduces operating temperatures and noise generated, the Caviar Green line disks have technologies that allow the operating system to recognize them as a single volume greater than 2.19TB even in Windows Vista or 7 running on 32 bits. In Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, these drives can be used directly, without problems, even as boot disks they do not only support Boot Camp.

Caviar Green hard drives are available in capacities of 2.5TB and 3TB, with suggested prices of US $ 190 and US $ 240. It is worth noting that a 3.5 inch bay is required to install these drives. I wonder if SSDs will ever reach that price level
