Western Digital follows Toshiba and launches 640GB HD for notebooks

A week ago, Toshiba introduced its own: yesterday, it was the turn of Western Digital to launch the 640GB Scorpio Blue, plus a 2.5 inch hard drive option with high capacity for notebooks.

The model uses two 320GB cards, but is still only 9.5mm thick. It is a SATA II drive, offers an 8MB cache and runs at 5,400 RPM. In addition to providing optimum performance, it consumes 30% less energy than the previous generation.

The new Scorpio Blue (model WD6400BEVT) is now available on the international market for $ 150.
