1. Brasilian Mindlin Library

The Mindlin Brasilian Library (digital.bbm.usp.br/handle/bbm/1) maintained by the University of So Paulo (USP). With physical building, the institution has a digital collection with about 3,000 titles, bringing together literature, encyclopedia, poetry, scientific articles, letters and various other categories. The user can locate the desired work from the sections or through the search field. Free downloads are available in PDF.

The catalog is part of the personal library formed by bibliophile Jos Mindlin and his wife Guita over 80 years, later donated USP by the couple's family. Because of this, these are classic works, old documents and historical records. Thus, Brasiliana is ideal for those who are looking for rare books, but it does not bring much result for those looking for contemporary reading.

Wattpad is a free platform for reading and publishing books. In addition to allowing online reading, the site allows you to download titles to your computer or mobile phone for offline viewing. To do this, simply add a library work and access it at any time.

The service focuses on independent publications and new authors. Still, you can find books, short stories and chronicles of famous writers such as Machado de Assis, Lima Barreto, Clarice Lispector and Edgar Allan Poe, among others.

Launched in 2004, the Domnio Pblico Portal (dominiopublico.gov.br) is a government website aimed at promoting learning and information sharing. The collection of texts encompasses titles of various types, including literature, education, astronomy, education, law and sociology, among others. In the literary part, the portal stands out for bringing together complete works of the most important authors of the Portuguese language, such as Machado de Assis, Fernando Pessoa and Joaquim Nabuco.

The platform allows you to search books by title, author, language and category. In addition to the literary works, the Public Domain has contents of image, video and sound, making it possible to download movies and music free and legally.

4. World Digital Library

The World Digital Library (wdl.org/en) has an impressive collection of nearly 20,000 works written in 193 countries, published from 8,000 BC to the present day. Although it is an international initiative, it is maintained with the support of the United Nations (UN), the portal is available in Portuguese. It is also possible to locate the works by country, with more than 250 titles from Brazil.

A highlight of the site is adaptation for the visually impaired. It has a native player that lets you hear the description text of the works before downloading them. The downloads are available in PDF and, when it comes to maps, in PNG.

The Other Comics (otherquadrinhos.br) entirely aimed at comic book lovers. The portal has a team of collaborators who translate works from different parts of the world, making the stories available in Portuguese and in high resolution images. The reader can find the series by title, author or keyword through the search field.
