Smart watches and bracelets are gaining Brazilians' wrists. According to a forecast revealed by IDC Brasil on Wednesday, 5, the clothing market should grow 62% in units in the country this year – in value, the sector should grow 73%, being valued at US $ 480 million in Brazil .

This market is no longer premium and is beginning to reach users of medium purchasing power, said Reinaldo Sakis, an analyst at IDC, in a meeting with journalists to publicize the study in So Paulo. The analyst also said that clocks and smart bracelets dominate practically the entire market of wearables in Brazil, but pointed out that wireless headphones, the so-called earbuds, they are also gaining space – IDC has not revealed specific numbers on earbuds.

The IDC survey also reveals a growth forecast for the smart speaker market in Brazil: the sector is expected to grow 50% in units in the country in 2020. The growth, according to IDC, will be motivated mainly by the arrival of voice assistants in Portuguese in Brazil – Google Assistant has been available in the language since 2017, but last year, Amazon launched Alexa in the country. In addition, lower product prices and availability of technical assistance should attract users.

Connected home technologies are expected to increase presence in Brazilian homes. IDC predicts that the market will grow 55% in units, thanks to lower prices and increased competition between brands.
