Voice search comes to Google Chrome

With Google Chrome 11?s ability to support a voice input API (HTML5), the Google browser is now able to handle web applications that work on voice to text transcription.

?The audio is recorded and sent to the servers for speech transcription, the text is then typed for you,? explained Sampath Satish, Software Engineer, on the company?s official blog.

While Mountain View is working on its own solution (we believe that!), A developer today introduced a Chrome Web Store free app which features voice search functionality and can be tested immediately.

?Have you ever wished you could do a search as fast as saying Google? Now you can! You can use the feature on other sites like Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, and more ?, describes the extension that works only on Google Chrome 11 beta or dev.
