Users question Apple Brazil about changing sources of burned iMacs under warranty

From yesterday to today we were contacted by some readers in particular, the @GordoGeek (1, 2, 3) about a debt that must also be for many of you. According to him, the “rumor” runs that Apple Brazil does not exchange sources of burned iMacs which cost approximately R $ 1,500.

Rear of iMac

contacted Apple Brazil to clarify this. Fortunately, for anyone who was even afraid to buy an iMac because of this risk, the official information is that the product warranty (or AppleCare) covers the source like any other internal component of the machine.

But there are cases where Apple does not change the source, in fact: one of them when it is burned by electrical overload. In this case, the liability for the damages of the energy supply company, which, although many are unaware, can be prosecuted and bear the exchange of the part.

The good news is that, even when inside the machine, the source of the iMacs is strong enough to not compromise other internal components of the computer even in cases of electrical overload. So, in the vast majority of cases, just changing the source is enough for the iMac to function as before.

We hope that this information clarifies everyone's doubts.
