Users continue to complain about oxidation on the iPhone 6s; company is no longer exchanging devices

A few days ago, we reported that some users of iPhones 6s are going through a headache like that: the painting of their devices, just like that, starts to peel / oxidize. We got in touch with Apple Brazil and, so far, everything we know that the problem is being investigated internally. In the meantime, we have received some uninspiring information from different sources.

One of them who preferred to remain anonymous said she worked in the company's support (AppleCare) and informed us that, for a few months, all these incoming cases were properly referred to senior support. When “leveling up” on the service scale, an exception was generated so that the device could be replaced free of charge. Today, however, this no more occurs. The company's final answer that this is really “cosmetic damage”, which does not affect the use of the device.

Result? If the customer wants, the “repair” (there is no repair for the case, but the replacement of the device) paid out. Since the beginning of June, no case related to paint peeling / oxidation has had an open exception and * all * have been treated as out of warranty.

J the reader Victor Selymes He said he talked to five attendants in the past few days and that they all claimed the same thing: an investigation into the matter has already been carried out and the company's conclusion is that it would be cosmetic damage, which does not alter the usability of the device.

The engineering sector no longer accepts these devices, that is, we are no longer making any changes.

Apparently Apple has already reached a conclusion, in my view, wrong. I am not suffering from this problem; in fact, no one on the est. In my circle of friends / family, I also don't remember anyone who reported this. However, it does not mean that it does not exist. I mean, yes, that in general.

Still, it is impossible to look at the images above and think that this is a problem caused by the user. I agree with Apple when it says it is cosmetic damage. in fact, something that damages the look of the device and in no way influences the capabilities of the device. Now, this does not give her the right to deny assistance as we are clearly talking about something that was not caused by the user.

Unless the person has taken a knife / sandpaper and has done it on purpose, I cannot imagine a single situation in which the device reaches this stage, in such a short time, "because of the user". I understand Apple does not open a replacement program (the famous recall) for the iPhone 6s since, as I said, it is not a problem that affects everyone. But there should be a direction in the company's support so that all these devices could be exchanged free of charge, even if they are or not under warranty! Even some iPhones 6s that are on display in stores present the problem, which would make it even easier for Apple to recognize that it is not something on purpose.

As we said above, the company has not yet given an official statement on the matter. Even if an internal decision has already been made and not communicated, I hope that everything will be reviewed and that common sense will prevail. We're talking about a top-of-the-line, next-generation smartphone.
