Joining a number of vehicles and analysts, the USA Today said yesterday in a report that also believes that Apple is preparing to launch an iTV. As a matter of fact, Jony Ive, senior vice president of industrial design at Apple, would even have a 50-inch model in his lab.
"Apple is most likely working on a 42-inch or larger LCD TV with built-in Wi-Fi," says the article, also citing everything expected from the product: Siri control, AirPlay connectivity, storage via iCloud and by go.
One of the major barriers to its realization, however, would be pending contracts and agreements with content providers. In addition to what is already offered today set-top box Apple TV, Ma would also be looking for partnerships with more television networks and cable content providers, which gradually find themselves increasingly threatened by these “connected TVs” certainly one of the most awaited product segments for this CES 2012 in Las Vegas.
"I hope Apple will give it a try," said its own co-founder, Steve "Woz" Wozniak. "I believe the living room will remain the center of family entertainment, and that touches every area of consumer products that Apple is already manufacturing."
Information on alleged component orders for Asian manufacturers is still very scarce (and they only speak on 32- to 37-inch screens), however, which may be an indication that the arrival of this iTV is still taking a while. Unless Apple really managed to keep everything under lock and key.
