USA are the main responsible for Spam in Portugal

In December, 93.95 percent of the messages received by the Portuguese were unsolicited e-mail and 13.14 percent were from the United States of America, reveals the latest report from AnubisNetworks.

During the holiday season, a trend already evident in the previous analysis provided by the company continued, with the USA dominating the Top 10 of Spam senders, followed by Brazil, from where 8.60 percent of messages arrive.

Portugal is also present in the table of spammers, occupies the eighth place, having been identified as the country of origin of 2.79 percent of unwanted messages during the month of December.

The month of Christmas is therefore less conducive to sending spam, registering a decrease compared to the month of November, when the percentage of unsolicited mail was 94.84 percent. In the previous count, related to the Carnival period, the levels were even higher, reaching 97 percent.

Among the main “producers” of unwanted messages in December were also Vietnam, Korea, China, India, Russia, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Romania.
