Upgrading audio firmware for Macs Pro really had positive effects

Apple released a major firmware update for Macs Pro ten days ago, but only this Friday (19/2) did information about the effects of the update pop up. THE Macworld did a before-and-after comparison on affected machines and concluded that Apple did a good job at correcting.

After applying the patch, users may notice a performance gain of up to 20% on their Macs Pro while performing multiple tasks involving audio recording / editing / playback even listening to background music on iTunes.

In addition to this improvement, the update also considerably reduced the CPU usage of the machines, which allows them to operate, in general, at a much lower temperature than before. On average, a decrease of 15C was recorded in the normal operation of the towers.

The only one, however, is that the new firmware has so far been released only for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. 10.5 Leopard users, who also suffer from these problems, will still have to wait a little longer (considering, of course, that Apple is working for them too).
