Unicode 10 is launched with 56 new emojis, which should reach iOS later this year

Reproducing done Gremlins, more 56 emojis are expected to arrive later this year.

The new wave, which had its proposal sent in 2016, was approved yesterday (6/20) and revealed along with the announcement of the Unicode version 10.0. In addition to the new emojis, this new version adds 8,518 characters (reaching a total of 136,690) and includes 4 new ones scripts (forming 139 in all).

Among the 56 new emojis, are included all that we have already commented on here, in addition to some others as mystical creatures (fairies, elves, wizards and vampires), people doing climbing, yoga and more. See below some illustrations published by Emojipedia:

Emoji for 2017

Consortium Unicode only approves the concept of emojis; then, the idea is reproduced differently on each platform. From there, it is up to Apple, Google, Facebook and others to adapt the concepts to the model of their "figurines".

As it usually takes a while for Ma to include support for the new standards, we shouldn't see the new emojis anytime soon, at least not already in the first beta versions of iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra. However, it is possible to predict that when the systems are released publicly, we will already see the new faces in them.
