Unboxing, photos and first impressions of the new MacBook Pro with Retina display

Since yesterday, we have followed many details and brought a lot of information about the new MacBooks Pro with Retina display, but now we are coming with a “jealous moment”: some of our developer friends who are participating in the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012 have already put their the new machine.

This one was acquired by Gabriel Rinaldi (@gabriel_rinaldi) and at Fernando Saragoa (@fsaragoca), Galapagos Mobile is now part of ADBAT / TESLA.

Fernando has already brought us his first impressions:

  • Boot 12 seconds, higher than a MacBook Pro with 2.66GHz Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and SSD.
  • Pixels invisible to the naked eye, images and icons are perfect.
  • Applications without support for the Retina display are terrible to use (Sparrow and Reeder, for example). When the move was from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4, at least the texts were clear, but even that (I can't explain why) occurs in MacBook Pro Retina in several apps.
  • Animations are smoother (changing Spaces, Launchpad, etc.).
  • Much lighter than the old MacBooks Pro.

They also sent a quick video of unboxing, which unfortunately got mixed up in some parts but it happens, in the middle of improvisation.

Here is a screenshot of the machine click on it to enlarge it:

Our collaborator Breno Masi, from FingerTips / .Mobi, also has one of these new MacBooks Pro in hand and, even before taking it to the hotel, sent us some cool photos directly from an Apple Retail Store.
