On Tuesday (3), Uber announced the start of the company's electric scooter operation in Brazil, starting in the city of Santos (SP).
The rent can be made through the same application that offers private cars and meals from Uber Eats, on Android phones and iPhone (iOS).
The service arrives at competitive prices, starting at R $ 1.50 to unlock the vehicle and adding up to R $ 0.75 every minute of use.
According to the company, the debut of scooters is another step in the "commitment to bring together, in a single application, several different means of transport, offering more and more options for the population".
In September, Uber announced changes to its app and started showing public transport in real time in the city of So Paulo.

The director of New Modalities at Uber in Brazil, Ruddy Wang, showed excitement with the start of the operation of the scooters in Santos. "With this new service, we want to continue helping people to move around without having to depend on a private car, contributing to reduce congestion and urban pollution," he said.
Uber also prepared educational materials for the safety of users.
The content, available on the app itself and on the company's website, features traffic rules and tips for safely driving scooters.
How to order Uber electric scooters?
In order to rent Uber's electric scooters, it is necessary to be in the city of Santos, where the service's operations started.
With the app open and running the latest version, just touch the vehicle icon at the bottom of the map.
When you find a scooter on the street, scan or enter the code to unlock it.
It is also possible to reserve a vehicle for up to 15 minutes to walk to it and unlock it.
At the end of the trip, park the scooter in a location within the performance area, without blocking the passage of cars or pedestrians.
