Turnaround: Apple changes strategy and will pay royalties during Apple Music trial

Just yesterday we explained why Taylor Swift decided not to make his new album available on Apple Music, new service streaming from Apple. Despite being a successful artist and not depending on royalties to pay her bills, the singer does not agree with Apple's policy (do not pass on due amounts to artists, writers and producers during the trial period of the service) and, therefore, made that decision. For Swift's attitude brought about changes.

Eddy Cue, senior vice president of software and internet services for Apple, confirmed in his Twitter account that the company does pay royalties to record labels / artists / producers / writers during the Apple Music trial period.

Apple always makes sure that artists get paid.

Apple Music pays for streaming, even during the testing period.

We heard you, Taylor Swift and independent artists. Love, Apple.

The singer quickly responded, praising Apple for its stance:

I am happy and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They heard us.

To BuzzFeed, Cue said: “We have been watching the discussion over the past week. We want artists to be paid for their work, and when we hear it from both Taylor and artists indie we listen. THE tweet Taylor's today solidified the issue for us and we decided to make a change. ”

Cue himself called the singer and informed her about the change. According to him, she was quite happy with the outcome of all this. It is worth mentioning, however, that no agreement has yet been reached for her latest album to be made available on Apple's service.

As I said in the other article, it is difficult to read Swift's open letter and not agree with his arguments; on the other hand, now that everything is resolved, it will be very ugly if she does not make the 1989 album available on Apple Music.
