1. Tumblr without porn with less hits

The main subject of software in March was the fall in popularity of Tumblr after banning pornographic posts. Although the number of views of the platform's blogs was already declining, there was a sharp loss of visitors soon after the company decided to ban adult content. The move came after the Tumblr iPhone app (iOS) was temporarily removed from the App Store for violating Apple Store terms of use.

Tumblr access data is not public, but SimilarWeb estimates point to platform access from 521 million in December 2018 to 437 million in January. In February, the number plummeted to 369.5 million views.

2. Instagram and Facebook down

By mid-March, Facebook and Instagram were down in many parts of the world, including Brazil. Social networks have started to show errors in both web and mobile versions (Android and iOS). The problem soon extended to WhatsApp and Messenger as well. Initially, the possibility of a massive DDoS-type attack on Facebook's infrastructure was raised, but the company denied that the bug was due to outside interference.

According to the monitoring site DownDetector, the failure of Facebook services began in the US and spread to the rest of America, beyond Europe and Australia. The next day, after the problem was resolved, the social network said the error was caused by a change of server settings.

4. End of Windows 7 Support

Microsoft has begun to warn in March that Windows 7 will no longer be officially supported and will no longer receive security updates. Users still using the old operating system should upgrade to a newer version, such as Windows 10, by January 14, 2020, when the manufacturer no longer provides full critical updates. The transition time is expected to be sufficient to accommodate the migration of the current 40% installed base that Windows 7 has on desktops.

A package of 26 million login credentials, home addresses and phone numbers of users selling on the dark web drew attention by including data from the Brazilian website Estante Virtual. 8. Five Instagram Alternatives

A list of five social networks that can serve as an alternative to Instagram was successful at the beginning of the month. These are platforms that also focus on sharing photos or videos, but have different audiences, other interface features, or allow greater engagement around artistic content. Options like VSCO, for example, can cater to those who are tired of the Facebook service and search for air changes.

9. Famous Stories Filters

Before going live, Instagram launched a new collection of augmented reality filters available on accounts of artists, celebrities and renowned companies. The effects add props, make-up and custom phrases that keep the relationship with the creator of the material.

Unlike most filters, this special content is not in the stickers menu of the social network, but directly in the post of the person responsible for the first disclosure. Names such as singer Rihanna, socialite Kylie Jenner and Brazilian Anitta are some of those who had filters at the world premiere.
