Toshiba steps forward and shows that those who don't have a Courier go from Libretto

While Microsoft Courier rests in peace in the Land of Vaporware, Toshiba has decided to use the idea of a laptop with two touch screens and celebrate in style its 25 years of experience in the world of portable computing. The Toshiba Libretto W100 (what a name) will have two 7-inch screens, an Intel U5400 1.2GHz processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 64GB of solid state memory.

Libretto's operating system will be Windows 7 Home Premium, with small additions made by Toshiba for widget management. It offers a USB port, a microSD card reader and a headphone output. Wireless connections can be made via Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n or Bluetooth (compatible with headphones and mice). Among other features, it also has a front camera of 1 megapixel, accelerometer, everything in a thickness is around 1.2 inches, weighing just over 800 grams.

The product considered by the manufacturer as a “conceptual PC”, but it has a real intention of bringing it to the market for US $ 1,100 (yep, more expensive than a MacBook). The staff of Engadget tested a prototype and, aside from the fact that it gets a little warm and its fans are noisy, the experience with the product seemed quite satisfactory, especially the different layouts for the keyboard and the response of the multi-touch screens.

Now have a video of a steel prototype of Libretto, made by Scobleizer:
