Toshiba today announced the launch of two new models of hard drives for notebooks: the MK7559GSXP, with 750GB of capacity, and the MKxx59GSM line, with 750GB and 1TB. Both are 2.5-inch hard drives, with 5,400 RPM, 8MB of cache and SATA 3Gb / s interface.
The MKxx59GSM line consists of discs of three plates 12.5mm high, against two plates and 9.5mm of the MK7559GSXP model. The components are very compact and offer advanced technologies for dynamic energy consumption.
The new hard drives are expected to start being made available to PC makers between the second and third quarters of this year. Toshiba did not disclose, however, the prices of the new hard drives.
