(Updated) What are the best selling products within consumer electronics? TeK sought to know, among the Portuguese stores, which are the bestsellers in terms of computers, printers and accessories in the area of photography and image, television and video.
In order to create a biweekly item dedicated to the Top 5 of national sales, we contacted the main retail stores, which add a large part of the consumer market.
Chip7, El Corte Inglés, Media Markt, Pixmania, Staples, Vobis and Worten were the brands contacted. Bearing in mind that some stores were unavailable to collaborate and others have not yet provided the requested data, we have, in this first edition, only the numbers provided by Worten, Staples and Chip7.
The information now presented refers to the sales, nationally, of each of the chain stores, during the last fortnight of August.
Laptops top the sales charts in all three cases, with models from Acer (399 euros), HP (449 euros) and Toshiba (499 euros) taking first place on the podium, for Worten, Staples and Chip7, respectively.
The model sold by Sonae stores (Acer Aspire 5732Z-454G32MN) has an Intel Pentium T4500 Dual Core processor at 2.3 GHz, 4GB memory, 320GB disk and 15.6 inch screen.
Staples customers have bet on HP’s G62-A60SP, which also features a 15.6-inch screen. The processor is from AMD (Athlon II P320, at 2.1GHz), the disk is 320GB and the memory is 3GB.
At Chip7, the bestseller is Toshiba’s Satellite Pro C650-171. With a 15.6-inch screen, it integrates an Intel Core 2 T6570 processor, at 2.1 GHz. The memory is 2GB and the disk is 320GB.
Staples’ list of best-selling products also includes an HP multifunction printer, a Fujifilm and a Samsung photo camera, and an external disk from Iomega.
The Top by Worten also features a Fujifilm digital camera and an HP multifunction machine, in addition to a Toshiba camcorder and Sanyo’s 19-inch LCD.
At Chip7, the scene is dominated by computers, with yet another Toshiba laptop and three Portuguese Tsunami models included – a laptop, a netbook and a PC.
In the coming weeks we will find out the figures for the first 15 days of September, which already reflect the campaigns back to school.
