Tip: Signing a document (PDF) on your Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

Did you know that you can digitally sign documents on both OS X and iOS?

On Mac

A long time ago we gave you a hint on how to capture your signature using your Mac's camera. But since then trackpads have evolved enough to allow us to sign documents in an easy way.

Signing a document on the Mac

Just open the document in question (usually a PDF), click on the icon with a briefcase to show the markup toolbar and choose the signature option. See that besides the option Camera, of which we have already spoken, now there is another one called Trackpad. Click on the central button, sign on the trackpad itself and after finishing press any key.

Once this is done, the signature will be stored. Just click on it to add the signature to the document and position it wherever you want.

On iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

The reasoning here is the same, but using the device's screen.

Whether it's a document stored on iCloud Drive or some PDF you just received by email, just open it, touch the same icons (briefcase and signature) and basically follow the instructions on the screen.
