TIM is testing support for Apple Watch with cellular connectivity

Yesterday we informed you that the TIM started to support eSIM technology and now, customers of the operator who own iPhones XS, XS Max and XR can now use the electronic chip instead of the traditional (physical) one. But, as we know, this technology is not only used on iPhones; on Apple Watch, this is the only way for you to have cellular connectivity (4G / LTE) on models that have such a possibility.

Claro was the first Brazilian operator to support the Apple Watch eSIM, in mid-2018; earlier this year, Vivo also implemented support and joined the game. And since we’re basically talking about the same technology, it doesn’t make sense for TIM to stay out of the party with the Apple Watch.

To MacMagazine, TIM’s press office reported that “support for the Apple Watch is in the testing phase”, and that “news about eSIM will be released later this year”.

In other words, everything indicates that it is a matter of time so that the operator’s customers can also enjoy cellular connectivity on Apple watches.

Claro Sync costs R $ 29.90 per month, while Vivo Sync costs R $ 19.90. We will see how much the TIM service will cost when it is launched.
