Tim Cook meets with several senators and Ivanka Trump, daughter of the US president

Nowadays, it is not necessary to be a Hollywood star to have your steps followed and analyzed by everyone. This happens, too, if you are CEO of one of the most famous technology companies in the world. The past week has been hectic for Tim Cook, who met some political personalities in Washington D.C.

According to the BuzzFeed News, Cook met last week with the Republican senator Orrin Hatch, which is part of the “Cutting-Edge Technology Task Force” (High-Tech Task Force) of the republican senate. The two have been together on the Utah Tech Tour last year, where they talked about encryption, privacy, among other things.

The senator talked about his meeting with Ma's CEO last Friday (1/27), and also posted a photo on Instagram.

During today's meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, we discussed ways to improve the economy as well as our technology industry, in addition to talking about his last visit with me in Utah. As president of the Republican Senate's (Outside-) High Tech Task, it is especially useful to listen to innovators like Tim.

It was great to see my good friend @tim_cook this morning to talk about technological priorities at the 115th Congress.

In addition to Hatch, Cook also met with other senators (Ohio, Rob Portman, and that of Virginia, Mark Warner), as shown in The Hill.

Good meeting today with the CEO of @Apple, @tim_cook. We discussed ways to reform our tax code to help American workers and American families.

Wait: every new iPhone7 comes with a selfie with @Apple's CEO @tim_cook?

But it doesn't stop there. The day before, Cook also joined Apple’s vice president of environmental, political and social initiatives, Lisa Jackson, and attended a dinner with Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. It is not yet known exactly what was discussed during the occasion.

Increasingly (represented by its CEO), Apple has been involved in political issues, especially after all the scandal of the iPhone of the San Bernardino terrorist, which raised questions about security and privacy. Others, such as education, human rights and the environment, are also subjects that have always been prominent in the company and can also contribute to political initiatives in general.
