Tim Cook and Jony Ive appear on the list of most influential people in the field of technology … automotive?

When they announce a list of “10 most influential people in automotive technology,” you might think of names like Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla) or John Krafcik (responsible for self-driving cars at Google). Yes, both are on that list, in 2 and 1 places, respectively. After all, its cars are benchmarks in the world today and automotive technology has advanced a lot with its contributions.

Now read the title of this post again. Yes, the online magazine The Drive had the hard task of making that list and added Tim Cook and Jony Ive in it. I don't know if maybe the magazine team knows about information about the “Apple Car” that we don't know or if it is pure “Fanboyzismo”, but it seems to me that there was a giant effort to try to fit them on the list.

Apple's design director got the 6 place basically because “the best car interiors beautifully reflect aesthetics (created by Ive)”. As if that were not enough, they still add the fact that the words used by him to present the “chamfered”, “anodized” products helped to improve the “American vocabulary” (hi?).

With Cook ensuring the 3 place, they were an introduction talking about how irreplaceable Steve Jobs would be but that, still, the current Apple CEO managed to launch CarPlay, car apps based on the Apple Watch and cited rumors of the possible entry of Ma into the automotive world.

Both were ahead of Uri Levine, creator of the Waze app, and Cook even beat Kazunori Yamauchi, producer and designer of the mega-realistic game Gran Turismo. Believe it or not, Obama has left, which appears on another list of them, of "10 most influential people in the car business".

I really hope that this list will make sense a few years from now, when the rather rumored “Apple Car” appears to us.
