These two apps allow you to watch YouTube videos in PiP on iPad

As many of you may know, one of the new features of iOS 9 on iPads was the feature Picture-in-Picture (PiP), which allows you to watch videos or even make calls via FaceTime while you do other things on the tablet, just position the window in one of the corners and it is above everything else.

However, a somewhat popular video app to date does not support the feature: YouTube. And it can never offer, because at least currently PiP mode works on standard iOS players, that is, Google would have to give up its custom that allows it to incorporate special controls as well as insert and manage advertising.

Fortunately, at least two apps have appeared on the App Store that “solve” this problem.

Sorry, app not found.

Use the PipTube It's very simple: just copy the YouTube video URL, open the Notification Center and tap on its widget. The video is then automatically opened on a standard iOS player through which the PiP mode can be activated. Another possibility to pull PipTube through Split View and watching videos that way, too.

CornerTube - PiP for YouTube app icon

THE CornerTube it works in a very similar way, but it also has a icon in the sharing extension. That is, you can for example touch and hold a link to YouTube directly from your favorite Twitter client and request that it be opened on CornerTube. You can also search for YouTube videos within the app itself.

Both cost $ 2 on the App Store, so it's up to you to choose what you like best.

Remembering that the PiP mode of iOS 9 is only compatible with iPad Pro, Air, mini 2 or higher.
