The wait is over! Apple Pay finally arrives in Brazil, initially with Banco Itaú as an exclusive partner

Tim Cook promised, and here we are: after a lot of waiting, speculation, rumors and false alarms, the Apple Pay finally is available for users of the Apple ecosystem in the Brazil exactly on the date that we informed in first hand. 😉

As we expected, in this first moment only customers of the Banco Ita they will have access to the platform and will be able to use Ma's payment system to make purchases in physical stores or online that accept the method with some exclusive benefits too, that is to say. The deadline for this exclusivity, according to sources , 90 days.

The good part is that, if you are a bank customer, you are in luck, Apple Pay will work with any type of account or credit card from the institution (and we expect other banks to adopt a similar strategy when they get on the boat).

For now, * will * not be accepted debit cards. And, unfortunately, the Apple Pay Cash feature of the system that allows money to be sent between users, including within iMessage, will also not be available here at this first moment. It is expected that the tool, as well as the adhesion of other banks and financial institutions, will not be long in coming; We, of course, will be keeping an eye on everything.
